Access to Information

Under Section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act, Councils have a duty to adopt and maintain a Scheme relating to the publication of information which is approved by the Commissioner.  This is referred to in the Act as the "Publication Scheme".  Ercall Magna Parish Council have, with the approval of the Information Commissioner, adopted the Model Publication Scheme promoted by the National Association of Local Councils.  The new Scheme is operative from 1st January, 2009 and can be accessed by clicking on the link below:-

The Freedom of Information Act requires every public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme, which has been approved by the Information Commissioner, and to publish information in accordance with the scheme.

At the Parish Council meeting on 19 January 2009 members approved the new scheme to apply from 1 January 2009. This is in accordance with the template of information that the Information Commissioner expects a local council to hold and make available within each class.

The table shows how the specific information can be obtained and if there is a cost involved.
